The Behavioral Disabilities Program
The Behavioral Disabilities Program is housed at the Park Avenue School and provides a behaviorally structured setting for elementary students whose behaviors substantially impede their learning. The program utilizes an Applied Behavioral Analysis approach to modify students’ behavior. Students earn incentives through a class-wide token economy system, and are provided with direct instruction on how to effectively regulate their behavior. Every student in the program has an individualized Behavior Intervention Plan, and receives individual counseling and Social Skills Training. Students who have demonstrated social and emotional growth are integrated back into general education. The program is case managed by a School Psychologist and consultation is provided on a weekly basis by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
