Ms. Devon Wagner

My name is Devon Wagner and I am one of the School Psychologists on the Freehold Borough Child Study Team. I started working in district as a full time employee in September of 2019, but I actually completed my internship experience in Freehold Boro during the 2017-2018 school year.

Just a little background information, I earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, then continued my education in the School Psychology Graduate program at Georgian Court University, where I obtained a Master of Arts in School Psychology and a specialist level Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study. Additionally, I have a strong knowledge base and experience working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.

Currently, I case manage all 6th grade special education students, along with some of the 7th grade special education students. Some of my job responsibilities include administering and interpreting results of psychological assessments and how they impact an individual student's school experience; consultation with parents, teachers and other school personnel to discuss learning, behavioral, and social problems as they relate to the school setting; work alongside teachers to address behavioral concerns in the classroom through the implementation of positive behavior supports; deliver school-based counseling to identified students; facilitate "lunch bunch" social skills groups with students who struggle with a wide range of challenges; conduct risk assessments for students in crisis; work with the Child Study Team to develop individualized education plans for those eligible for special education and related services.

One of my interests includes researching the development of positive school culture and effective family-school partnerships, as well as best practice when establishing effective problem-solving teams in schools. My ongoing goal is to apply what I have learned through my research to facilitate positive growth for the children and families of Freehold Borough School District.
